Do you know about the server case process? The initial process for the server case is profile extrusion, age, CNC machining, final step is surface treatment.

Aluminum Extrusion Server Case

It is about the profile extrusion, we open an extrusion mold for the server case. The extrusion mold is the core part of the aluminum extrusion, it determines the profile shape and dimensional accuracy. Before extrusion, the mold needs to be preheated to a certain temperature to extrude different size profiles.
We place aluminum bars into the heat stove, and let aluminum bars reach a suitable temperature. The aluminum bars typically need heat between 450°C and 500°C. At this time, the aluminum bars soften and enhance plasticity, which reduces the aluminum profiles’ resistance to deformation during the extrusion process.
Then our worker pushes the heated aluminum bars into the mold to produce aluminum profiles. We carefully control the extrusion speed to ensure the aluminum flows uniformly and prevent defects, such as bubbles, cracks, or warping.

Before the aluminum profiles age, the extruded profile needs cool reduce its temperature. There are two types of cool: air and water cool. We also consider aluminum material and aluminum profile performance requirements to select a suitable cool way.

In the next step, the aluminum profiles need to age, the aluminum extrusion profiles’ age treatment methods are artificial and natural. The age improves the extrusion profiles’ performance.
We keep aluminum profiles for a certain period to achieve the age effect, which we call natural age. Different aluminum compositions need different age times. So the artificial age is placed aluminum profiles in an age furnace.

The age hardening phenomenon was discovered by German scholar Awilm in 1906 when he was studying aluminum-copper-magnesium hard aluminum alloys. Age treatment is important to improve the aluminum extrusion profiles’ mechanical, physical, and chemical properties.
The essence of age treatment is that the second phase precipitates and grows from the supersaturated, unstable single α solid solution. Due to the different coherence between the second phase and the parent phase (α phase), the parent phase is lattice distorted and strengthened. The age strengthening effect is related to the heating temperature and the holding time. The higher the age temperature, the faster the age speed. Each aluminum alloy has its optimal age temperature and age time. If the age temperature is too high or the holding time is too long, the aluminum alloy will soften, which is called over-age.

Another Important Process For Server Case Is CNC Machining

We commonly meet process methods like drilling and tapping, which are essential for component installation and connection. First, the server case precisely drilling holes to accommodate electronic components ensures fixation.
Second, the server case tapping threaded holes provides installation, such as bolts and screws, thereby achieving a reliable connection between the electronic components and the server case.
These CNC machining processes improve the aluminum alloy server case’s structural integrity and enhance its functionality.
Through CNC machining, the aluminum alloy server case provides mechanical support and electrical insulation for electronic components while ensuring the equipment’s long-term stable operation.

Customized Surface Treatments For Server Case

We provide customized surface treatments for the customer’s special requirements. The common surface treatments include anodizing, chemical chrome plating, sandblasting, mechanical polishing, coating oxidation, etc. These treatments can be used alone or in combination. We suggest that customers choose which surface treatments depend on the desired performance and appearance requirements.

Anodizing is a process that forms an oxide layer on the surface of aluminum alloys to enhance its hardness and corrosion resistance, and also provides the option of dyeing to change the appearance of aluminum alloys.

Chemical chrome plating is a method of improving the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy surfaces. It can also change the color of the surface and provide a protective coating.

Sandblasting is a method of changing the texture and appearance of aluminum alloy surfaces by blasting sand or other particulate materials at high speed, which also helps to remove dirt and oxides from the surface.

Mechanical polishing is used to improve the finish and gloss of aluminum alloy surfaces through mechanical means, such as grinding or polishing.

Coating oxidation is a method of forming an oxide layer on the surface of aluminum alloys and then coating it to provide additional protection and decorative effects.
