Open The Mold

Opening the mold is the first step in customizing aluminum heat sinks. Aluminum heat sinks on the market are non-standard customized dimensions, and there are no standard parts, so custom extrusion molds are required.

Extrusion

Extrusion is a key step in the forming of aluminum heat sinks. The aluminum ingot is heated to about 520-540℃, and then passes through the groove and extrusion die under high pressure to produce the early blank of the heat sink.
During the extrusion process, the mold is first designed and manufactured according to the cross-section of the profile product, and the heated round cast rod is extruded from the mold by an extruder.

CNC Machining

Depending on the customer’s different processing requirements for aluminum heat sinks, we can use CNC machining technology to process different parts’ shapes. CNC machining involves using computer-controlled machines to precisely remove material from the workpiece to create the desired part geometry.
After designing the part and generating the tool path, it is processed using a CNC milling or turning machine. Appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds must be used to ensure a high-quality surface finish that is compatible with the anodizing process.

Anodized

Anodized is an important step in the surface treatment of aluminum heat sinks to increase the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and appearance of aluminum parts. The anodized process includes three main steps: surface pretreatment, anodizing, and sealing.
Surface pretreatment: Clean the parts’ surface by chemical or physical methods to expose the pure substrate to obtain a complete and dense artificial oxide film. A mirror or matte surface can also be obtained mechanically.
Anodizing: After surface pretreatment, under certain process conditions, the surface of the substrate is anodized to form a dense, porous, and highly adsorbable AL203 film.
Sealing: Seal the pores of the porous oxide film produced after anodizing to enhance the anti-pollution, corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the oxide film. The anodized film is colorless and transparent. By using the strong adsorption of the oxide film before sealing, some metal salts are adsorbed and deposited in the membrane pores, which can make the appearance of the aluminum profile present a variety of colors other than its natural color (silver-white),
such as black, bronze, golden yellow, stainless steel colors, etc.
